To hear the Biden administration tell it, crime in US cities is no big deal. Try telling it to the ordinary citizen trying to live in some of these hellholes.
The Washington Wizards and the Capitols have just announced they are leaving for the suburbs… and crime is a big factor in the relocation. But it’s not just that. We’re seeing high-profile victims, including elected officials, FBI agents, and most recently, Mike Gill.
You know it’s gotta be bad when the Mexican Consulate is giving safety advisories about visiting America’s capitol city.
Gill had been COO in the Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) during the Trump years, and held a senior role in that same department durig the Obama years.
He was minding his own business, sitting in his car when suddenly, he became the *next* target in a multi-vidim crime spree that has now claimed 2 lives besides that of the carjacker himself, who was shot dead by police.
Gill has now become the second person murdered in that crime spree.
A former Trump administration official who was shot in a deadly string of carjackings in Washington, DC, earlier last week died Saturday, the DC Metropolitan Police Department said in a statement.
Michael Gill, 56, was inside his vehicle parked at Mount Vernon Square on Monday when the suspect, identified as 28-year-old Artell Cunningham, got inside the vehicle and shot him, police said.
After fleeing by foot, Cunningham then approached 35-year-old Alberto Vasquez Jr. and a woman by their car and demanded the keys, police said. Cunningham shot Vasquez dead and fled the scene in his vehicle before officials say he conducted two more carjacking incidents in Prince George’s County the following morning, MPD Executive Assistant Chief Jeffery Carroll said at a Tuesday news conference.
Cunningham was eventually stopped and was fatally shot by two New Carrollton police officers in Maryland on Tuesday. Carroll said preliminary information obtained by interviews with individuals involved shows the suspect “may have been in some sort of a mental health crisis or having some mental health issues.” — CNN
He leaves behind a wife and three children.
The news media will never say anything to impugn Joe Biden if they can help it. Whenever they can massage statistics to suggest he is making life better for Americans — including crime numbers — they can be reliably counted on to do so.
But when you have high-profile examples of people suffering the effects of lawless cities to the extent we are seeing sports franchises flee the city, and FBI agents being robbed… it’s hard to dismiss the problem as some kind of over-heated right-wing narrative.
John The Baptist: A Rude Awakening Precedes A Great Awakening.
This timely little tome chronicles the politically incorrect ministry of one of God’s most effective wildmen, John the Baptist, who prepared the way for Christ’s ministry.
The abrasive message of repentance John preached 2000 years ago is still confrontational and offensive today — but it is also life-changing.
In our putrid, worldly culture that has turned away from God, this book is a must-read for every Christian.
Available in paperback for those of you who like the feel of the pages in your hot, little hands, on Kindle to keep it right at your fingertips, and as an epic Audiobook.
