It was no secret that this judge was going to rule against Trump… after all, Trump was presumed guilty from before the moment he opened his mouth.
There was nothing about this case that was typical. Nobody had ever been charged under this statute before. The DA chose a statute that does NOT allow the defendant to have a jury.
There was no victim and no parties were harmed by any action on Trump’s part. The banks with whom he did business — the ones he supposedly ‘defrauded’ — were eager to do business with him again.
Long before the ruling was handed down, we all knew Trump was going to be slammed. Hard. And he was.
Donald Trump must pay $354.9 million in penalties for fraudulently overstating his net worth to dupe lenders, a New York judge ruled on Friday, handing the former U.S. president another legal setback in a civil case that imperils his real estate empire.
Justice Arthur Engoron, in a sharply worded decision, opens new tab issued after a contentious three-month trial in Manhattan, also banned Trump, who is running to regain the presidency this year, from serving as an officer or director of any New York corporation for three years. Trump’s lawyer Alina Habba vowed to appeal.
Engoron canceled his prior ruling from September ordering the “dissolution” of companies that control pillars of Trump’s real estate empire, saying on Friday that this was no longer necessary because he is appointing an independent monitor and compliance director to oversee Trump’s businesses.

The entire fraud case is built on the insane premise that Mar-a-Lago is worth just $18 MILLION dollars.
Isn’t it interesting that this ruling — against Biden’s principal political opponent for re-election to the top job in the country — was handed down on the very same day that Joe Biden publicly scolded Vladamir Putin for the prosecution, imprisonment, and eventual death of Alexei Navalny who happened to be Putin’s only real political opponent.
Joe and Vlad are more alike than he would admit — except maybe for the fact that nobody has ever seriously wondered if Putin has some form of dementia.
As for Trump — his fight isn’t over yet.
He’s not the kind of guy who turns tail and runs from a fight — especially if he believes he can win it.
