Ronna McDaniel is calling it quits as GOP leader, someone else will need to step up to take her place.
Remember that moment when Vivek stood up on the debate stage and offered her the opportunity to resign? He said the GOP had become a ‘party of losers’ under her leadership.

She probably should have taken Vivek up on that offer. At least this way she might not have been horse-whipped by the reporting that came out about how badly her team had been mismanaging money.
Red State’s @Jenvalaar has been doing old-school reporting since 2022 about how the RNC has been (mis)handling their finances. She had been the proverbial voice crying in the wilderness. Maybe you’ve heard about the RNC bleeding red ink? Jen’s reporting helped the rest of us make sense of exactly what’s going on there.
🧵 Timeline to Ronna McDaniel's resignation … Here is the first in-depth analysis that RedState – and ONLY RedState – did on RNC finances, in December 2022.
EXCLUSIVE Analysis Shows RNC Spent Millions Spent on Private Jets, Limos, Luxury Retreats, Broadway Shows…

For more than a year, nobody really listened. But she kept at it. Her latest expose kicked a hornets nest at the RNC’s recent winter meeting.
The Charlie Kirk show also picked up on it and shone a spotlight on these numbers:
NEW — I got an exclusive first look at @jenvanlaar‘s new report on the RNC’s lavish spending on limos, consultants, flowers, and office supplies while skimping on GOTV, data, and state parties:

Laying these figures side-by-side against Democrats against whom we underperformed in recent elections was telling.
RNC has been paying WAY MORE for trivialities like limos, office supplies, flowers(!), and consultants…
And they are paying WAY LESS on the actual work of winning elections.
Kirk had a follow-up post after the news broke.
Now that Ronna is stepping down later this month, I want to make a few points clear.
I have said repeatedly my opposition to Ronna as Chair was nothing personal. She has always been kind to me personally and I’m sure there is a role for her to play in the future. I genuinely wish her well. I just want to win.
Our party is way behind when it comes to building out critical infrastructure and GOTV funding. We’re doing what we can at TPAction. I believe our efforts critical, but we need a strong RNC to win. President Trump deserves this and I will do everything in my power to help.
We have a real chance to bring back small and large donors to the RNC, but to do so, the new RNC leadership MUST listen to the grassroots and empower it. The RNC can play quarterback, empowering groups like TPAction, America First Works, and others to do their part in key districts. The RNC should not horde, but rather spread resources and tasks. We must divide and conquer. The DNC learned this lesson and has put it into action to great effect.
This is a win, but it’s only the first step out of 100 others. Next steps are critical. The RNC must put into leadership people who understand 1) fundraising and 2) the grassroots — these are state and county chairs, precinct captains, local grassroots orgs etc. This is the heart and soul of the party and they love Trump. They are suspicious of the establishment. New leadership must not alienate these wonderful people by behaving like a country club clique.
This is not the end of the battle. It’s just the beginning. I am excited about the future, but now we must execute.
She’s stepping down. Great. But who’s replacing her?
That’s an interesting question, with a few different answers.
Matt Gatz had one of the most unexpected answers — but his reasoning seemed sound:
I fully endorse Kevin McCarthy for RNC Chair. Kevin is well organized and a very high-revenue fundraiser. He will also be well-liked by the RNC Committee.
The RNC Chair doesn’t make any policy decisions, set any agenda, or negotiate against Democrats, ever.
Kevin would be… https://t.co/7EquxhIBIc

‘Dark Horse’, it says.
Harmeet Dhillon’s name has come up again — quite a lot. But she may not be interested this time around. (We’ll come back to that shortly.)
Scott Pressler has been quietly doing the hard work of putting boots on the ground and changing public opinion by actually showing up. There’s a case to be made for him on those grounds.
Just registered 2 members of the Amish community to vote.
There are 80,000 Amish in Pennsylvania.
We are actively pursuing the Amish vote, which could literally save the country (& globe).

We’re 2,651 voters away from flipping Bucks County, PA, 🔵🔜🔴.
We’re 1,362 voters away from flipping Centre County, PA, 🔵🔜🔴.
We’re 3,814 voters away from flipping Luzerne County, PA, 🔵🔜🔴.
This is a big deal.

Theories are floating around social media that Trump would like to see RNC Legal Counsel Michael Whatley take the role, but Trump himself is saying he won’t have any recommendations before the South Carolina primaries.
But at least one voice is saying these theories about Ronna’s replacement may be moot because (he claims) the RNC leadership *must* go to a female candidate.
This is Tyler Boyer’s credentials list so that you can make up your own mind about how credible his reporting of the rules are… but ‘RNC Committeeman’ stood out in his bio.
He weighs in on the choices, and then we make good on the promise we made about Harmeet:
All we can say for sure is that the times they are a-changing.
