If Marjorie Taylor Green hadn’t heckled him to say her name he might never have mentioned her name at all.
We were told that Joe Biden’s SOTU prep included having replies to hecklers from the other side (which obviously would have included the recent death of Laken Riley) and even hecklers from his own side (probably the Hamas-friendly protesters who have dubbed him genocide Joe).
When MTG shouted that it was about Laken Riley and heckled him to Say Her Name, it triggered his canned response.
Whether it was enough to reframe the issue in the way he hoped to or not, we’ll leave to the public to decide.
But it didn’t exactly go off without a hitch. Even while holding up a button with her name on it as a prop in his reply to MTG, he STILL got her name wrong.

And was that kneejerk reaction of inserting your own sorrows into the story really the right play here, Joe?
The only way that analogy would actually work is if you had personally cut the brake lines of the driver of the other car in the accident that took the lives of your wife and daughter.
Because your policies and your party’s agenda are exactly the ‘but for’ question which makes the difference of whether the Laken’s (alleged) killer was even in this country to do her harm.
It’s not about the native-born criminals. It’s about those from elsewhere who have not been subjected to Trump’s idea of ‘extreme vetting’. In your world, they get no vetting at all.
An we’ve got a huge spike of foreign criminal cartels working out of American cities to show for it.
